First match of the season saw new Head Coach, Nick Barton’s new squad away from home with an anticipated tough fixture v old adversary SC Southend.

Having not beaten the Essex seaside team for several years, the last fixture in Southend between these 2 saw the home side triumph 14-6 with the 🐝 10-4 behind at HT.

However this time a depleted Cambridge side (owing to unfortunate pre season injuries & lack of player availability) saw a relatively new & inexperienced side an unlucky 3-0 behind at HT.

Second half saw the 🐝 claw back 3 goals but it wasn’t just enough to secure a win against such an experienced side.

Goal difference may well be important come the end of the season so the result saw Cambridge finish the day in 7th position in the inaugural National Futsal Series T2 (South) table, a distinct positive for all concerned.

Next match is the 1st home fixture of the season v Braintree in 2 weeks time.
