Another early Sunday morning kick off but only 100miles away (!) saw Cambridge visit Reading for this FA NFS Cup match.
With the Bees looking to revenge a heavy home league defeat from the high flying Royals before Christmas, it was looking hopeful with the score 0-0 with only 8mins left on the first half clock.
However within 3 mins, the home side had managed to take advantage of a lack of concentration & focus from the visitors and bagged a 2 goal lead which they took to half time.
HT Reading 2 Cambridge 0
Second half saw much of the same with no addition to the score line for the first 10mins until a sloppy across court, square pass infront of goal from the Bees was intercepted & gleefully slotted under the keeper by the Royals.
Again, within 3mins the Royals had added their 4th & final goal from poor concentration & defending from the visitors.
So basically the 40minute game was won(&lost) in 2x3min periods in either half. That’s focus. That’s futsal!
A wonderful, self created goal from Cambridge’s ANGEL Martinez intercepting a pass, driving forward and with great composure chipping the advancing keeper, was sadly merely a consolation one with 2mins to go.
FT Reading 4 Cambridge 1
This Sunday sees the Bees return to league action away v Bedford. Only 25mins away & an afternoon kickoff in a terrific local 300 seater venue it should feel like a home game with enough support. Why not bring some children & enjoy the indoor match!🤞🐝
