The West Anglia derby between these 2 well established local rivals didn’t disappoint.

An increased crowd on the previous week at the magnificent University of Cambridge Sports Centre were witness to a cracking match of top flight domestic club futsal from the comfort of the tiered seating which they struggled to remain in such was the excitement levels.

With 3 minutes to go of the first half the score was 3-3 with the foul count 3-3 such was the close nature of this encounter between these 2 old rivals.

The match continued to ebb & flow however the visitors managed to finish the first half 3-4 ahead and looking a well disciplined & drilled team.

The Bee’s Head Coach Luis Mendonca clearly had a plan to turn things around and so it was with 5 minutes to play the scores were level on 5-5 with the tension, noise & excitement building.

Would either team settle for 1 point or push for all 3 on offer?

With just 21 seconds left on the clock, local Nando’s Manager Angel Martinez, looking as splendid as ever in his full facial “pirate” like beard, smashed a shot from the left wing infront of the stands and past the rooted visiting keeper. Pandemonium ensued!

Wonderful match played in a firm but fair spirit concluded with the Bee’s securing their first win of the new FA National Futsal Series season and grabbing all the points.
