Much Closer Encounters of the 2nd Kind

Our Women's team put in a much improved display against league leaders Stevenage on Saturday in Bedford.

Having been comprehensively beaten in their first encounter, the very first match of the season and first ever competitive match for our new Women's team, this was a challenge they were relishing.

After a hard fought goalless first 12 minutes the Bees went 1-0 down after a very good delivery from a corner led to a goal courtesy of a towering header at the far post. Two more late goals in the first half meant the away side went into the break 3-0 down.

In the second half Cambridge used the spaces found on the counter attack more effectively and goals from Sylvia TARANTINO and youngster Eve SEYF brought the score to 3-2 to set up an exciting end to the game.

Eventually a 4th goal from the home side towards the end of the game settled the match and the Bees left with a narrow defeat but a very encouraging performance.
