So near, yet so far!

This local derby in the FA National Futsal Series T2 attracted a good, vocal crowd to take up some of the 300 comfortable seats in the Bedford Arena.

As expected, the game was a tight affair between these two local teams who’ve met each other on many occasions over the years, with Cambridge coming out on top.

However, entering the final 10mins of the first half, the Bees found themselves 2 goals behind until young 16yr old RAFA Martinez popped up at the far post to tap in a goal to close the gap.

Second half quickly saw the Bees draw level with an early equaliser from VITALII Burnus with a fine shot that eluded the keeper.

However, this appeared to sting the Griffins into action. Their overall maturity and physicality got the better of a youthful visiting team and having secured a 2 goal lead, with the Bees chasing the game, the home side secured their win with 2 more late goals whilst Cambridge were playing with a fly keeper.

Jubilant scenes at the end from Bedford & their supporters having secured their first win against Cambridge.

Next up for Cambridge a home Cup fixture this Sunday v London Helvecia, current National Futsal Champions. Ko 1245pm. All welcome to the University of Cambridge Sports Centre.
